Actor and comedian Bresha Webb (Theater BFA 07) makes her stand-up special debut with LOL Live: Bresha Webb, premiering Friday, Aug. 7, on Hulu and Disney+. The half-hour program is part of Hartbeat’s LOL Live showcase, a slate of 12 stand-up specials scheduled to roll out monthly through May 2027.
In the special, Webb draws material from her own life, moving from childhood dreams of performing to marriage and motherhood. Speaking with NPR’s Morning Edition, she credited her parents with recognizing and encouraging her desire to entertain.
“If I see something, I want to do it all, you know?” Webb told host A Martínez. “I used to watch music videos all the time. And I would get up and start learning the, you know, the dances. That’s just a natural thing for me. And then I wanted to do it in front of people. And so my parents just paid attention to that, and they just nurtured it.”
Webb’s wide-ranging career in comedy and drama includes television roles in Truth Be Told, Love That Girl!, Marlon, Run the World, A Black Lady Sketch Show, and the Emmy-winning Hacks, as well as film appearances in Meet the Blacks and Night School.
