Don Cheadle Talks Time at CalArts on SmartLess Podcast

Don Cheadle (Theater BFA 86), the incredibly versatile actor known for his roles in films like Hotel Rwanda, Crash, and the Iron Man series, was a recent guest on the popular podcast SmartLess. Hosted by Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett, SmartLess blends candid humor with deep dives into the lives of artists and thought leaders. 

Cheadle’s conversation on SmartLess covered a vast array of topics, including the formative years he spent studying acting at CalArts. “It was really a great experience and a place for me to try everything and make a lot of mistakes and not get fired for it as a result,” Cheadle said during the podcast. 

He also emphasized the significance of perpetual learning in maintaining a sustainable artistic practice. Cheadle shared how continually evolving and expanding his horizons have been crucial in keeping his work vibrant and relevant.
