Spread the love

From Saturday, Jan. 20 through Tuesday, April 2, Cirrus Gallery in Los Angeles presents The Love of the Marvelous and the Disbelief of the True, a new exhibition curated by Robert DeMangus (Art MFA 22).

Billed as “an intergenerational exhibition of artists,” the exhibition is a showcase of works depicting flowers as subject matter. Among the artists represented are School of Art founding faculty John Baldessari (Chouinard 59), Barbara T. Smith (Chouinard 65), and 1995 honorary degree recipient Betye Saar. Also in the lineup are David Austen, Richard Baker, Billy Al Bengston, Nora Berman, Bruce Cohen, Anima Correa, Daniel Gibson, Carol Vitz, Jason Meadows, John Millei, Hilary Pecis, Ivan Rios-Fetchko, Sterling Ruby, and Jonas Wood.

DeMangus, a Los Angeles-based curator, is co-director at Imperial Gallery, an apartment gallery in Beachwood Canyon, California, as well as Cirrus Gallery, a historic gallery, publisher, and print shop in operation since 1970.

The opening reception for The Love of the Marvelous and the Disbelief of the True takes place this Saturday, Jan. 20 from 5 to 7 pm.
