Lingo You Should Know: The CalArts Dictionary 2023-24

Spread the love

The 2023-2024 academic year is almost upon us, and we’re thrilled to have students return to campus! New Student Orientation takes place from Sept. 2-10, and classes begin Sept. 11. We at 24700, CalArts’ primary news publication, would like to share a warm welcome to our new crop of CalArtians.

Wait … what’s a CalArtian? (It rhymes with “martian.”) Learn this and other essential campus vernacular in the CalArts Dictionary, a glossary of terms unique to the Institute, posted above for your perusal. Find out when it’s Gallery Night, how to locate The End of the World, or learn about early members of the “CalArts Mafia.”

The dictionary was created for our incoming students, but it might also provide a useful refresher for those returning. If you have a contribution to the dictionary, please leave a comment.
