POLARITY: Dan Rosenboom Releases ‘Inspired’ New Album

Spread the love

Trumpeter, composer, and CalArts alum Dan Rosenboom (Music MFA 07) presents his “most personal and authentic music” yet with his latest album POLARITY. Described by All About Jazz as an “inspired session,” the record was released earlier this spring by Orenda Records, a music label which Rosenboom and fellow CalArtian Eron Rauch (Art MFA 06) cofounded.

Though Rosenboom originally intended to entirely improvise the album, his band—saxophonist and fellow CalArts alum Gavin Templeton (Music MFA 08), pianist-keyboardist John Escreet, bassist Billy Mohler, and drummer Damion Reid—convinced him to document compositions. Rosenboom credits their encouragement with bringing this “gorgeous set of original music” to fruition. POLARITY was produced by Justin Stanley, who has previously worked with artists such as Prince and Beck.

Says JazzTrail

Polarity is a jewel of intensely played music and interactive creativity performed with openness and edginess in the company of a top-notch quintet.

From SomethingElse Reviews

Dan Rosenboom finds a powerful conduit for his creative ideas in Templeton, Escreet, Mohler and Reid, enabling him to fulfill the promise of all of his compositions with the uncompromising Polarity.

Find the album at Spotify, Apple Music, and Bandcamp. Polarity is available as a limited edition 180-gram double vinyl and a limited edition compact disc (available for purchase through Bandcamp).
