Works by CalArtians Beatriz Cortez (Art MFA 15), Emily Marchand (Art MFA 17), and School of Art faculty gloria galvez (Art MFA 16) are now on view at Carolyn Campagna Kleefeld Contemporary Art Museum in Long Beach, California, running through Thursday, Dec. 12.
Titled Against Monoculture, the show explores intersections of art and activism, offering a creative lens through which one can examine the structural causes and consequences of food inequality. The exhibition brings together artists whose practices explore the vital role of food in community, struggle, and survival. Emphasizing the inherently creative nature of cultivating, preparing, and sharing food, their works illuminate the deep connections between food, land, culture, and identity.
