Among the Hollywood Fringe Festival shows featuring CalArtians this June is a new play called Terrible Lizard. Written by Lauren Ashton (Theater BFA 19) and directed by Angela Rosado (Theater BFA 21), this new work from Poppycot Productions premiere at the festival as a staged reading.
Terrible Lizard takes the audience back … far back … all the way to a time with dinosaurs. While many people think that dinosaurs all got wiped out together when the meteor hit, their extinction occurred over a span of days. The few dinosaurs that were left had to navigate some very human ideas: finding home in a place no longer familiar to them, facing their biggest fears, and dealing with that “one annoying friend you desperately want to leave but can’t because they’re the only one you have left. Literally.”
This dinosaur tale features a cast of CalArts alums including Ashton, Abigail Stanton (Theater BFA 19), David Kirk (Theater BFA 19), Jamie Cayer (Theater BFA 22), and Harry Golby (Theater BFA 22).
The show performs its reading on Sunday, June 5; Friday, June 17; and Thursday, June 23 at The Actors Company: Other Space Theater in Los Angeles. Tickets may be purchased online for $13.
The Hollywood Fringe Festival has included multiple productions from CalArtians in the past, and this year is no different. Running from Thursday, June 9 through Sunday, June 26, this year’s festival also includes shows with CalArtians including Something in the Air, Apocalypse at the Rainforest Cafe,Yellow/Blue, and Signals.
